Myths of the Philippines

ldentity, editorial

Written by Jean Karl M. Gaverza, Myths of the Philippines is a paper that dissects and expounds on Philippine higher and lower mythology, from its geographical origins to cultural implications.

I created a composite symbol: a sun with eight curved and responsive rays (an image also seen on the national flag), to represent and emphasize the notion of singular beliefs from different communities coalescing to compose a strong ethnoreligious narrative.

Using a dynamic script and serif-concentrated type system, geometric figures, and a well-established hierarchy structure, I constructed a visual language that blends ideas taken from classic folklore novels with the simplicity of modern information-led publications to allow easy comprehension and clarity among readers.
